swimming with clothes

Abby and I took a long walk today and it was hot.  When we got back home, Abby wanted to run some water and get in her pool.  Well, that was fine with me and after I put water in the pool I said "Abby let's go inside and put on your swimsuit".  I turned around to unlock the back door and she jumped into the pool with all of her clothes on.  It was hilarious.  I just let her play like that for a while in the freezing cold water.  She loved every minute of it.  What a fun way to cool off.  Oh to be 19 month old again.

flocked

No, this is not a prank.  It's a fabulous fund raiser that one of my former students is participating in!   The idea is that you get "flocked" one night.  You wake up to find 20 or so flamingos in your yard.  You get some sweet sunglasses, candy, a plastic flamingo and a note explaining how to get rid of the treat in your yard!  You can donate any amount to have the flamingos removed in 24 hours.  The group will come back tonight to pick up the "birds" as Abby keeps calling them.  She has LOVED this and all afternoon we have been outside playing with the birds.  The funny thing is that some neighbors have come by and wanted to donate money too after they find out what it is.....maybe they just want to get rid of them??  Who knows.  I love it!!  Thanks for flocking me!

trip to baylor

Today Abby and I took a quick trip to Waco for the day. We met a college friend of mine who lives in VA now but was in town for a friend's wedding in Austin.  We had the BEST time!  I am so glad that we went and got to see her.  I also met her husband but they had left their son at home.  I will meet him one of these days!  Abby was truly a rock star for me.  She woke up screaming at 6:00 so I thought she would sleep in the car.  Of course, she didn't so I thought she would be a nightmare the whole time we were walking around campus, shopping and eating lunch.  She was just perfect and loved seeing the bear.  When we sat down to eat she fell asleep in my lap and slept during lunch so Chara and I could actually talk!  It was SO much fun!!!  I love you to death Chara and will come see you one of these days to meet Riley.  Thanks so much for coming to see us!!

(yes, I was THAT mom)

Thursday, Abby and I met our sweet friends at the arboretum.  It is the first time we had been this spring and it is gorgeous!   Abby didn't really want to pose for any pics among the flowers, but she LOVED the frogs spraying water!  We stayed there a long time and went back before we left.  She was soaked and loved every minute.  It was a fun afternoon outside!

reading

Abby loves to "read" her books.  It has been a rainy few days and she is just content to sit and look at her books for a while.  Love that!

shopper on our hands?

Had to add this picture.  Mom and I went to one of my favorite stores while I was home and obviously Abs loved it too.  She picked up everything her little hands could hold and even stacked stuffed animals up to her chin!  My girl loves to shop!

easter weekend in arkansas

We had a great Easter weekend in Little Rock.  Abby had 2  Easter egg hunts to attend and she had a great time at both.  Abby warmed up to her Pappy fast and became his little shadow.  She would literally follow him around the house and when he wasn't in the room she would go looking for him. They went on walks together and played in the yard.  Abby LOVES her cousin Zach.  They were so precious together running all around the house and screaming.  It is so much fun to see them play.  I was able to attend a Good Friday service with my dad and Easter Sunday with my family at church.  Both were amazing and such a great time to reflect on the meaning of Easter and what Christ did for us on the cross.   Happy Easter everyone!

18 month appointment

Wednesday morning before Abby and I headed to Little Rock for a long Easter weekend, I took Abby for her 18 month appointment with Dr. G.   He was a little concerned about her weight after seeing her at 15 months, so he stressed that I come in and make sure all was well.  A few days before her appointment I made sure Abby had as many peanut butter brownies as she wanted to fatten her up!  She ate well!  So well, in fact, that Dr. G and the nurse commented on her 3 pound weight gain a couple of different times.  Yay Abs!  I was never concerned about her health.  She just would rather dance with Elmo than eat most days!   Here are the ole stats:

Weight - 23 pounds (25% percentile)
Height - 34 inches  (95% percentile)
Head - don't remember (75% percentile)

We have a perfectly "normal" toddler!  Praise the Lord for a healthy growing girl!

neighborhood easter egg hunt

This morning our neighborhood had an Easter egg "hunt".  It cracked me up that they called it a hunt because when we drove up, all you saw was at least 1,000 eggs filled with candy just thrown on the ground!  It was so precious.  There was an Easter bunny there which Abby avoided at all costs, some juice and cookies.   The kids just hung around until the bell rang at 10:00 for them to start picking up the eggs and filling the baskets.  Abby was much more excited about a little girl with an Elmo basket and kept wanting to follow her around instead of picking up eggs.  (You can see the little girl in the 3rd picture...hilarious!)  She ended up with 4 eggs because they were gone in about 15 seconds.  So fun!  She loved opening them up and seeing what was inside.   She tore into a hershey's kiss and got a sticker and 2 candy bracelets.   It was the first of many egg hunts this week!

baylor bow head?

Too bad all the bows in the world couldn't cheer Baylor on to a victory tonight!  Proud of the bears anyway!  Sic Em!
