cousin camp 2012

Papa and Abby at the Little Gym party!

Hunter LOVED it.

Abby loves these precious girls.

The whole gang

Family pictures were Sunday night. The boy cousins before the pictures.

Monday morning was Olympic time!

Complete with obstacle course,

running with the torch,

and making our country's flags.

We goofed off lots at the house.

We swam a LOT.

Cousin Camp 2012 was not lacking in fun, excitement and good memories!   We played at Little Gym, had family pictures taken with the whole crew and swam until we were tired of the water.  Mimi and Papa planned some Olympic Games and the kids had a ball.  Such FUN cousin time and the adults had a great time catching up as well.  Great visit to Houston.  Thank you, Mimi and Papa for all the wonderful memories for all of the kidos!

race to remember

About to hop on a plane back to Dallas, but today was a special day!  There was a 5K Race to Remember and we honored Reese.  I pushed the boys and Z kept asking if I could go faster!  HA!  It was a fun day and I loved every minute of being here with my sister.

cousin time

Dinner outside!  Bo got to meet David for the first time.

Ice!

The girls.  Abby was in heaven.

(193/365)

My sil and the kids came for a quick visit this week!  We had a great time catching up and the kids loved playing with each other.  We were with the girls and my brother in Colorado, but my sil and the boys stayed home this year.  I loved getting to spend more time with sweet David.  He fits right in and gave Abby a big hug when they left.  Thanks for coming to see us!

more of the same

After playing outside in all the water stuff it started to rain.  Abby and Grayson thought it was hilarious that they were "getting wet".  However, they were already soaking wet before it started raining.

(191/365)

I know that most every picture I have taken this summer has been out in our back yard.  Well, we have done a LOT of playing outside this summer.  It's been so easy to have friends over to play and H can run around his territory and he can take a nap when he needs to.  It's been great.  The kids have loved it and I actually get to talk to my friends that come visit and don't have to chase kids in a crowded place and not talk to people.  Today my friend Tracy came over with her three.  Tracy and I have known each other since we both lived in Houston and our husbands worked together.  Her two boys have a crush on Abby and it is hilarious.  It's always fun when we get together.  Another fun summer day!

fourth of july 2012

We had a pretty quiet 4th of July and I loved it.  This week has been crazy with getting settled back in after our big Colorado trip. On Tuesday I took a quick trip to Arkansas to attend a funeral for one of my mom's best friends.  She was a precious, Godly woman and I miss her laugh already.  My flight back on Tuesday night was cancelled, so I flew back Wed morning instead.  Needless to say, a quiet day at home with family and a small group of friends what just what I needed!  We stayed up late watching the neighborhood fireworks from our back yard.  Always a fun tradition!  Happy 4th!!

"cowboy camp" day 5

Time to ride some horses!

They had a horse there named Reese.  Jason asked the wrangler to point her out.
She, of course, was beautiful!

This was Abby's pose for the week.  Who knows where she got this.

Gathering at the Lodge for dinner!

Abby got to ring the dinner bell!

After dinner, we attempted to take some family pictures down by the coral.
Hunter was not so interested.

He wanted to hang with the horses instead.

Do you see the cross at the top of the mountain?  Jason noticed it and asked John, the ranch owner, about it.  He said a Young Life group puts one up every summer.  So cool!

Western Party

At the western party, the staff does skits and it's a fun night!  They surprised my dad and included him in one of the skits.  It was hilarious.

Abby also had a skit to do with her kid's group!  Abby LOVED all the activities and the counselors that led the kid's group.  Bo and I hardly saw her all week!

There is really no other place like DVR.   To think that in the year 2012 you can let your kids run around a camp and not once worry about where they are or if they are safe is just amazing.  The kids ran all over that place all.day.long.  There are no keys to the cabins and the doors and windows are left
open all day.  Having a Christian staff surround your family the whole week is such a blessing.

Growing up at DVR, nothing much has changed and I love that about it.  The weekly schedule is the same every time we go and the family style meals in the lodge are the same too.  Just ask Dad about the Mexican buffet for Tuesday lunch!   Our family keeps growing and the little ones are learning about the ranch.  It's fun to take my kids to a place that I loved so much growing up.  Loved my family time and loved being with each one of them!   Until summer 2014!  Happy Trails!!
