"what's the big deal, Mom?"

This post is soooo much more for me than it is for anyone else. I have to document stuff like this or I will forget.

So....Sunday morning, Abby came to me and asked to use the potty. I said, "sure" and she did it. I thought it was just a total fluke and went with it. Well, she did it 6 times that day. I had no big girl pants or anything. MY plan was to potty train her this summer. Well, she ended up potty training herself. I was SO caught off guard and SO not ready for this. I thought she would wake up Monday morning and things would go back the way they were. However, she kept it up and has done a great job. We went out Monday morning and bought big girl pants and it has gone great ever since. I think she knows more about this potty training thing than I do. She has amazed me. I couldn't be prouder of her. Abigail, you never cease to amaze me. I love you so much and I am so dang proud of you. You are truly my BIG GIRL!!!

Now....if only we could get rid of the paci!?!?!?!?

crazy busy weekend

We had a blast this weekend!! The Lohrdings came in town from Lubbock to celebrate Luke and Samuel's birthday. On Friday, the kids played in the backyard with bubbles and sidewalk chalk. We had pizza and birthday cake to celebrate the boys turning 3!! On Saturday, we were up bright and early. Bo made everyone pancakes and then we were out the door by 9 to go to the Ft. Worth Zoo. The weather could not have been nicer!!! We left at 1 and got home for nap time. I headed to a baby shower and then we all headed out to a birthday party from 4:00-5:30. We got back home around 5:45 and had dinner here at the house. Whew. It was a busy day, but the kids stayed up playing until almost 8:30.

We had a crazy busy weekend, but it was so much fun! So glad the Lohrdings came to visit and wanted to celebrate with us. We love you Luke and Samuel!! Come back soon.

This was Bo's favorite outfit when he was a little boy. Mimi says she had to wash it just about every night because he wore it so often. She thought it would be fun to put it on Abby. I wish I had a picture of Bo in it to put right next to this one. Like father, like daughter!!

Emerson, Charlie and Abs

Last week was spring break so we took a trip to Houston. While we were there, we went to the Houston Rodeo. What a memorable experience for all of the Bain family. The kids had a blast as well as the adults. We were all having a great time riding rides, when it began to rain. I don't just mean rain...I mean RAIN. We knew that it was coming, but we thought we could get there and home before it hit. Boy, were we WRONG.

We were enjoying the rides outside when all of a sudden the sky opened up. It wouldn't have been all that bad IF we had been even somewhat close to a door to get into the Reliant Hall. I can't even explain to you how far away we were. It started to POUR so Bo grabbed Abby and we all started running. I was in flip flops pushing a stroller and trying to keep my camera dry under my shirt. What a scene. We ran around the whole building before we got to an open door. By the time we all got inside the building, we were drenched. I mean we looked like we had all jumped in a pool with our clothes on. Bo went to buy the kids dry clothes because they were shaking. Abby, for some reason, was thinking she was going to get a haircut. and kept saying, "I am not getting my hair cut". So random! It was quite the experience. The story goes on, but that will explain the last picture of Abby in the new shirt she got at the rodeo. I guess we learned our lesson...if it says it is going to rain....stay home!

our weekend

We spent our whole weekend outside! It was so beautiful and so nice to be out we didn't want to come in. We had picnic lunches, ate ice cream in the back yard, went down to the lake and fed the ducks, blew bubbles and Abs even got in the back yard pool. The weather made us all ready for spring!! Saturday night, Hollie and Kade came over to eat dinner with us because Kevin and Karlie were out of town. We love our sweet friends. The Bains had a terrific weekend and look forward to many more!

The weather was gorgeous this weekend and we loved getting outside. Our sweet neighbors gave us this play set today! They told us that their kids have out-grown it and offered it to us. What a blessing!!! Bo snapped the pieces together and Abby LOVED it. She was hoping around the yard saying "I just love it!" and laughing. We had a busy, but fun weekend as a family. Bring on SPRING!!!

This morning, Bo and I took Abby to see Sesame Street Live. We told her about it before we left and she was a bit anxious. She kept saying, "Elmo is nice. He is not scary. He will wave at Abby.". Bless this girl!!! Once we got there, she did great! The characters were far enough away and she loved watching them dance and sing on stage. She had a great time. Apparently she had so much fun that the last 15 min. of the show, she fell sound asleep. She is still talking about it and we loved treating her to this special morning!!
