BUSTED - 151/365

Two tickets in the Bain house this month.  I got the first one....cell phone use in a school zone.  BOO.

However, today in the mail, Bo got the second one.  It is a red light violation.  Oops.

I honestly thought it was me when I opened it.  I tend to run red lights all the time on accident and have wondered when I was going to get busted.  However, it was Bo this time.

Time to pay UP!  Happy Wednesday!

life long friends

Luke, Ethan, Abby and Mikey  (April 2008)

Ethan, Luke, Elizabeth, Abby and baby Issac and Hunter  (May 2012)

Today we had some friends over that I have known since elementary school.  We went all the way through high school together and have still remained close.  When you graduate with 36 people and have been with them since first grade, you get close!  I love these guys.  They are more like family to me than friends.  We have been through the ups and downs of life and I may not see them every week or month, but when we get together we pick up right where we left off and I KNOW we would do anything for each other.  Love these guys.

Yes, we have seen each other a lot since the April 2008 picture, but I thought it was neat to see how big the kids are now and some new additions as well.

BIG day

Abby and A before bedtime.  Yes, Abby has pants on her head.  Don't ask.

Hunter LOVED Faber.  He was in heaven throwing balls off the back of the couch!

Precious family.  Chosen by God to adopt.

Abby took this one before heading to the airport.

Today was a big day in our family.  My brother, sister in law and their oldest child headed off on a 14 hour plane ride to South Korea.  They will be meeting their new SON on Tuesday at 9:00 am and will be bringing him HOME with them this weekend.  This has been a work in progress for the last 20 months.  He is 22 months old right now and has been living with a foster mother and father. I love what Meredith said to me this week.  She said, "I am just ready for the unknown to be known."  My brother and his whole family have done all they can to prepare for this week.  Please pray for them as they walk down this "unknown" road for a while.

What a blessing they will be to this little boy.  He will be loved unconditionally and he will be taught about the Lord.  He will have older sisters and a brother who will be great examples and love him well.
I am so excited for them and what the Lord is doing in their family and welcome my new nephew into our CRAZY family.  He has no idea what he is in for!  : )

shoes (144/365)

First off, let me say I know this isn't a very good picture, but I wanted it to be authentic.  That meant looking over, grabbing my camera and shooting before they were finished.   No time for settings!

This is what happens each time we are leaving the house.  Abby takes Hunter over to the shoe basket and they sit and she helps him with his shoes.  Then she puts hers on.  She is such a little Mommy to him and a big help to me.  I am loving throwing on crocs and flip flops and not fighting over socks and tennis shoes!  YEE-HAW!!     Happy Thursday!

summa summa summa time

First day of MDO - August 2011

Last day of MDO -  May 22, 2012
(143/365)

Well, school is out and it's time for SUMMER!   Lots of play dates, pool dates and family trips are coming up and we are excited!  Abby will to go VBS and dance camp in the month of June and then we escape the heat and head to Colorado for "Cowboy Camp" with my family.  July brings the 4th of July BBQ and cousin camp which is outside of Austin this year!  Before we know it, Abby will be starting Pre-K.

I always think summer will be so slow and long because it's so dang hot here in Texas.  However, they end up going quickly as I know this one will.  Looking so forward to no schedule, popsicles and lots of time with friends.  That is what summer is all about!  Bring it.

bday and mother's day weekend

It was such a great weekend all around!   We started the celebrating on Friday night with a fish fry at the golf club, balloons and cupcakes.  Saturday morning Bo took the kids to get donuts and came back with a large Diet Coke for me.  Happy Birthday to ME.  That man takes care of me!   We went to Babes for lunch with my little family.  When we got home, Bo told me I had a massage appt and off I went.  It was fabulous and always a welcomed treat.  I got home in time to shower and get dressed up for a date night with my man.  We ate and enjoyed the fun atmosphere of the area.  Perfect weather and a perfect night out!  Thank you for everything, Bo.

Mother's Day is today.  I was sitting back watching my kids play this morning and just thanked the Lord for a few people in my life:

First of all for Abby and Hunter.  What a blessing it is to be their mom.  I can't imagine my life without them.

Secondly,   I thanked Him for my mom who has always been and continues to be such an amazing example of a Godly woman.  She never complains or speaks unkind words about anyone.  She loves my dad and her family unconditionally.  She is truly a Proverbs 31 woman.  I am so thankful for her.

Next,  I thanked the Lord for my sister.  What an amazing testimony she is to many other moms who have babies in Heaven.  She is a mom to three pretty special children and such a great example of faith and grace.

The fourth person I thanked the Lord for was my incredible sister in law who is about to become a mom to a little boy in South Korea.  He will be here any day.  Love Meredith's heart and willingness to be open to the Lord and what He has told their family to do.  My little nephew is about to meet an amazing woman and call her MOM!

And then I thanked God for all of the moms that I walk through life with on a daily basis.  These are moms that I have cried with, laughed with and just been silly with.  I love raising my children next to them and couldn't do it without them.  Each and every day they are there right by my side.  Thanks!

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there.  I love you and know today that YOU are special!

mother's day tea round 2

Today was another special day!  I can't tell you how sweet Hunter's Mother's Day tea was this morning.   He had no idea what was going on other than I went in to the class with him, played for a bit and ate a special snack of "baby fruit" and cookies with him.  His teachers are so precious and went all out to make us feel so special and didn't have to at all.  Love them.

The teachers made us this little book with the kid's pictures (love the bib on in the pic) and handprints in them.  They also made us a necklace with our child's fingerprint on it.   What a special idea.  I love it.

Again, I feel so blessed to be Hunter and Abby's mom.  What a gift the Lord has given me!   Happy Tuesday and Happy Mother's Day!

weekend

H loves sitting in his chair reading books.

Abby and Anna Jane

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

This past weekend was another fun one.  Lucas (Bo's bil) and the girls came up from League City to spend the weekend with us.  Lucas had a bike race on Saturday and we got to hang out with the girls.  Abby was in HEAVEN.  These two are precious and let Abby follow them around and copy their every move all weekend long.  Bless their hearts!  Hunter, on the other hand, is obsessed with Lucas and sat in his lap and read books with him when he could.  H is ALL about books right now.  He will sit for an hour and let you read to him or read in his chair.  It's so precious and nice to know he can be so still for that long!  : )

We really just played at the house, ran a few errands and celebrated Cinco de Mayo on Saturday with fajitas and margaritas, of course!    When the girls left on Sunday I thought Abby might just cry.  We love you, Hilbrichs and can't wait to see you again!

play group

Yesterday our play group was at this great place with a small play set area, a bigger play set area and a splash park in between the two.  The play areas are shaded and that is so nice.   We had never been there when the water was on.  I called before we got there and they told me the water was off so I didn't dress my kids in swimsuits.   After being there for about 30 minutes, the water came on.  It was hilarious.  The kids LOVED it.  We ended up staying there close to 3 hours and once we got home and I put the kids down they took amazing naps.  Might just be going there lots this summer!  : )

abby's mother's day tea

Yesterday was Abby's Mother's Day Tea at school.  Can I just tell you how much I LOVE where my kids go to MDO?  Ahhh...the teachers are amazing and they do such special things all during the year.  This, of course, is one of my favorites.  I love that God chose ME to be Abby and Hunter's Mom.

The moms all arrived at 1:00 and found our seat in the room.  The children all came in and recited Psalm 139.  Love that Scripture and love that Abby is hiding these words in her heart.  After a prayer, the kids joined their mom and showed us all of the neat things they made for us.  Abby was so proud of her "secrets" she had kept from me.  We then ate snacks and talked with each of her teachers and friends.   Abby LOVES her teachers this year.  Every year they have been wonderful.  We are so thankful for each of them!

Happy May and Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful moms out there!!

15 months

Hunter turned 15 months old last Saturday, the 28th.  Today was his 15 mo. appointment and it went great!  He is 24 pounds and 32 inches tall.  They say that's 50% weight and 75% height.  I, personally, would think it was more in the weight department!  : )

Since his first birthday he has his molars and now a total of 11 teeth.  He is eating everything in sight and doesn't seem to be picky at this point.  He is running around everywhere and climbing on everything too.  He is ALL boy.  He is sleeping better and I am not sure if it's the moving around or what, but I am loving it.  It's still not great, but it's good for me!  He is trying to take one nap a day on some days and it's early and short.  Makes for a LONG afternoon, but he is going to bed about 6:30 or 7 and sleeping 12 hours now.  GLORY.  Momma is a happy girl.

He can say "da da", "momma", "out", "up", "hi" and he calls Abby "Addy" or "Abba".  Love that.  He still lights up when he sees her each morning and  just says, "HI!" really loud and smiles.  He adores her and she still adores him.  These two are precious together and I hope it stays this way for a long time.

He is still pretty laid back, but does have a temper if something makes him mad.  He is a typical guy though and gets over it pretty quick.

Still precious!  I think we will keep this one!  : )  Happy 15 months my boy.
